Volunteers

Volunteers are needed in a variety of capacities. Please read below for a short job description of volunteers needed at each site! For most positions training is required and provided.

Needed:
Camp Counselors, for one-week sessions (some 1/2 weeks available). Applicants must be 18 years or older, or have completed the Counselor-In-Training program. 

Deans, for one-week sessions. Events at Kinawind are led by deans who are United Methodist ministers or active, committed laypersons. The dean plans the program, recruits and trains any volunteer staff, and supervises the program during the camp week.

Health Officers, for one-week sessions. Health Officers must be an MD or RN.

Work Camps. Youth Groups, church groups and others are welcome for short term mission projects. Details regarding length and work duties need to be arranged with the director. Ideally, work camps take place in the spring or fall months.

Volunteer Nurse to serve as an on-call resource for questions or consultation by the Health Officer, and/or to assist with camper registration and checking in medications.
 
Volunteer Lifeguards to help with specialty programs, canoe trips, or non-summer programs.
 
Volunteers to assist with the High Ropes Course facilitation with spring & fall groups.
 
Volunteer workers for specific buildings or grounds projects or assisting with retreat groups in food service or housekeeping.

Volunteers to help with promotion or fund raising efforts.

Volunteer Counselors - We're looking for those ages 18 and over who have a genuine love for working with special needs adults for our two God's Treasures Camp sessions. A two-day training prior to the start of camp is required for all camp staff.
 
Health Officers - We're looking for health officers for our God's Treasures Camp sessions- MD, RN or LPN required. A two-day training prior to the start of camp is required for all camp staff.   

Special Talents?  Pupperts, clowns, story telling... we're always looking for people with special gifts and talents to do presentations for our God's Treasures Camp sessions.  Further details can be secured by speaking to the site director.

Lumberjacks:  Individuals or groups to assist in cutting & splitting firewood.

Do you posses a special talent such as story telling, musician, clowning, juggling, puppetry, etc.  Why not share your gift with the campers here at Myers Lake?  Flexible opportunities available.

Camp Clean-up weekend is April 26-27, 2008. Free camping for all who volunteer this weekend.
